Workshop: Information And Communication Technologies In Melanesia: Building A Research Community

“Information and Communication Technologies  in Melanesia: Building a Research Community” was a two day event hosted by the State, Society & Governance in Melanesia Program at ANU on 20 April, 2015. The aim was to establish a cross-disciplinary research community concerning the political and social impact of new information and communication technologies in Melanesia, with a view to establishing an active email list and encouraging Melanesian ICT-led panels on future conferences of all stripes. Day Two of workshop was devoted to discussion of diverse existing and completed research projects and Horst and Foster presented on their ARC project on the moral and cultural economy of mobile phones in the Pacific.
